Nikon D50
Due to my growing intrest in photography, I purchased a Nikon D50 DSLR kit on the weekend. I bought it from Jessops as they price match any online price that you can bring a printout in to prove. It comes with a Nikon 18-55mm lens, plus I bought a Tamron 70-300mm to accompany it. The EOS 350d was the obvious alternative, but thats a) smaller, b) takes CF not SD and c) more expensive. I never found anybody on the internet saying that you could go wrong with either of these cameras, so I chose the cheaper nikon and a lens - I would have had to buy into CF cards if I had bought the canon, which pushes the difference up even more. My PDA, MP3 and existing cameras all take SD, so I applaud Nikons decision to support SD on the camera which will be the obvious upgrade from a compact for many.
First impressions are excellent - its a revalation (as it should be) compared to my old camera - a Kodak DX6490. 0.2 second startup, 2.5 fps and very very fast focusing are the highlights for me right now. I have taken 350 odd shots so far without even trying, many with flash and the batttery still reads as full :-).
I plan on posting a full review after I have had time to really play with my new toy. I will have plenty of time to play - I’m broke now!
My DX6490 is now up for sale and may surface on Ebay - its done very well over the last 14 months and is still mint, boxed etc etc.

White Cliffs of Dover
You know you are back home when you get this view. And then you realise its a 5 hour drive home assuming you get a good run :-(.
This was taken on our return from Dunkerque to Dover, on a pleasant crossing which was pretty smooth. Only problem was the wind was up a bit and blowing spray at me - so I was taking these pics while trying not to get the camera wet!

Still Slow Posting
No ADSL at home for nearly 2 weeks now - not willing to pay out £50 to BT if its my router at fault, and not yet tested another router at home - nobody will lend me one 
As soon as I get internet at home I plan to do some work on this blog and make some design changes….

Belgium Holiday and Long Time No Post
Been Back from Belgium for over a week, but not got round to posting anything to Flickr just yet.
Belgium was good - spent 3 nights in Ieper, toured the main WW1 grave sites, went up to De Panne for a bit of seaside (and swimming as it was 35 deg!) and went to Brugge for the day.
We also Spent 3 nights in Dinault - where I manged to go Walking, Cycling and also did a 21km Kayack down the river Lesse.
I have now got a good stock of Belgian Beer, glasses to match and my diet says I cant have any of it :-(.
Its also close to a year since I started my Weight Loss Blog - so a special post will be in the Works for that.
